What is this?
Tread - walk in a specific way | Weary - feeling or showing tiredness
Treadweary is an idea that stems from years of trying to be something we are not. Treadweary is driven by a person, a pastor, a father, a husband, a disciple, and a sinner. In this place you will find thoughts, ideas, images, sounds, and meditations - all of which are geared toward leaving the past life behind, sharing in the life of Christ now, and moving on ahead towards a hope found in a Gospel that is proclaimed as truth in order that we might be freed from sin and our fear of death.
Carleton Smee is a recovering "fundagelical," having grown up in the Nazarene church. Taking the long way around, he is now a Lutheran pastor who seeks solace in the notion that Jesus loves sinners. He was raised in California, but makes his home in Minnesota after coming here for college. He has a heart for music ministry, handing down the faith to the younger generations, ecumenical work, and the forgiveness of sins. He enjoys good stories, fine music, IPA's of all kinds, and anything to do with medieval Europe. He spends way too much time watching Star Trek, reading old books, and listening to podcasts. He is a friend of Laphroiag Distillery (Plot No. - 826921), a member of the Prayer Book Society of the UK, and a fan of Fulham Football Club (COYW!!!). He often wonders if he was a monk in a former life, and sometimes wishes he could breathe under water. He shares life with his wife, two kids, and their cats. All of whom, in one way or another, you may find here from time to time.
Treadweary began as a blog over thirteen years ago. It was a place to ask questions, to share thoughts, and discern towards what can be defined as a "re-call" to ministry. Eventually it morphed into what has become an attempt to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ and share it in any way possible in the 21st century world. In no way is this a location for expert analysis or declarations of some knowledge that was unknown before. This is a place to find refuge in the God who is timeless that entered into our time in order to reconcile us to him.
